The Storm
by Naman Madan '18

I sit at the rubble of my old home.
I ponder about my life.
I remember what the house once was,
Up until one strange December night.
It was any normal winter evening,
Everyone was huddling around the fire.
Suddenly, we heard a loud “Boom!”
Something was about to transpire.
We heard another noise,
A noise louder than the cry of Zeus.
My mother tried to comfort our pain,
But obviously, it was no use.
The snow outside was piling,
Piling faster than ever before.
That was when the lighting struck,
And the agony came once more.
A burning tree crashed into the living room,
Smoke and Snow quickly filled the air.
We jumped outside and watched our home burn down,
Our hearts filled with despair.
I stand here at the rubble,
Looking at that blackened tree.
I ponder about my life,
Wondering how one event became my destiny.
I ponder about my life.
