Ocean
by Stephanie Reis '20

As the crew loads up the dock
They are preparing to hunt whales
Some stand by to see, others to mock
As they depart on their sails

The sea is flat
No harsh waves to be seen
They watch as the fish land with a splat
But the seas start to turn mean

With darkening clouds
And a roar of thunder
The crew gathers in crowds
Worrying they might go under

The captain barks his commands
They need to be followed
To ever see again the lands
Or have the ship be swallowed

The crew follow the tasks
And they put up their best fight
They do what the Captain asks
Taking on the storm despite the fright

The waters show strength
But the crew will not bore
For they will go the entire length
Until they reach the shore

Suddenly the water stops
Someone shouts land ho
The fear suddenly drops
And the crew is ready to go
