People Aren't Light-Bulbs
by Dan Krauth '16

When I was younger I used to tap a lightbulb against the wall
To hear the sound it made
Until one day I tapped the lightbulb too hard
And it broke
So now the lightbulb was broken, I made a mess,
And the sound was no more
I learned a lesson that day
About how you can use something for fun
Until you take it too far
And what you're left with is
A mess,
A broken lightbulb,
And someone who misses the sound it made
It took me a while to realize
You can do the same thing
To people
Makes you think twice
About grabbing another lightbulb
To hear the sound it made
Until one day I tapped the lightbulb too hard
And it broke
So now the lightbulb was broken, I made a mess,
And the sound was no more
I learned a lesson that day
About how you can use something for fun
Until you take it too far
And what you're left with is
A mess,
A broken lightbulb,
And someone who misses the sound it made
It took me a while to realize
You can do the same thing
To people
Makes you think twice
About grabbing another lightbulb
