"Merry Measure"
by Michele Schremp '21
We put out our shiniest baubles
And ward away the darkness with skeins of lights We take out our itchy sweaters and laugh As we forget about the cold outside We frantically find things for those we love And sometimes a present for those we don't. We come together to help those who can't. We play The Songs, we put up The Tree, we make The Cookies, and we have The Dinner We have our traditions, passed from one generation to the next, changed and embellished at every stage. We greet each other happily, and we force the darkness of winter to wait another month. Everything is fresh and lively and red and green As we all spend a day or two together All united in merry measure. |
