"Let There Be Light" by Michele Schremp '21
Art by Mary Rose Corkery '18
I never see the sun these days.
She disappears at four, forgets summertime promises.
Yet I do not blame her judgement
We seem to be worthy of the darkness
We create it within ourselves.
We hate our sisters
We divide
We fear
We’re rather short of miracles
(The one thing that could save us)
And yet
It took only a whisper
Of great power
Of great hope
Of great trust
To create this awful awesome ailing world
So now
Let us shout
Let us celebrate
Let us fight against the darkness before it consumes us
With the rallying cry
“Let there be light”
