“Cloud Watching” by Elizabeth Kirby ‘22
we spend our days
working and rushing never stopping never slowing down but my favorite things are saturdays in the spring and fall when the grass is perfectly green and then the air is clean and crisp and the wind blows lightly through my hair and the sun warms my face and the ground looks like a soft green mattress my arms covered in a sweater but my legs in shorts perfect white puffy clouds in the sky so i lay down to watch the sky with you i try to decipher the floating shapes “that one is a bunny” “no it’s definitely a lunch box” “what?!?” i laugh you take up a defensive tone “no! that’s what it is!! how do you see a bunny!” we descend into a fit of giggles but we can’t decide and that’s ok the joy was in being there with you just us the wind the sun the grass the sky the clouds just us and i can’t decide what i love more you or being with you |
