I Don't Like People

I don't like people
Cause people can be quite rude They thrive off of attitude People can spew nonsense too much and too loud But they whisper rather than stand out from the crowd They turn children to orphans and buildings to ash Because they can't go five minutes without a clash People hurt and they hate and they steal and they lie And they don't stay to watch as it all goes... — But even so, people can be quite kind When you look beyond what you easily find Because they stand up to fight when they know it counts And sit down to pray when there's too much to surmount They turn the forgotten one to a nephew or niece In a relentless struggle to bring justice and peace And yes, taking stock of it all may bring tears to each eye Because people heal and they love and they give and they try I don't always like people But sometimes, I love people |
