Did I Get Him?
By Victoria Richardson
Slam!
The bat hits the head of the hairy beast
It lays on the ground groaning in pain
The hair on their face sticks up as they continue to feel the pain of the bat Sirens emerge from the distance
I raise my hands up in the air and drop the bat to the ground. My legs feel like jelly
My arms feel like feathers
That was it
I was free
I walked closer to the flashing lights.
Red
Blue
Red
Blue
Red
The screams of terror
The fight on their faces
“I was only trying to-“
“I don’t care! Get on your knees now!”
I stumble to the ground and get on my knees
“I did it. I got them! I got the monster!” I yelled with glory Cuffs bound on my hands and I get pulled on my feet
“What are you talking about?”
“The monster of course?”
“You’re insane! You are definitely going away for good this time” But I am not going insane!
I won’t go back!
I can’t go back!
I am not the monster!
I get into the car and look back at the monster
Their large brown hairy hands turned into small little hands The fur on their face turned into tears of pain
The torn clothes were wrapped around by a blanket
The little boy gets rushed away to get medical help
The monster wasn’t the little boy I hit with the bat
Maybe I am going insane?
Who knew I was the monster I was looking for after all?
